About PFSS

Meet the Management Team
Steven Skivens
Role: Operations Director
Key Skills: Leadership, Business Admin, Investigation and Evidence Collation, Audit, Quality Management, Team Management, Supervision, Teaching and Mentoring, Problem Solving, Structured de-briefing.
With 32 year of experience within the fire and rescue service at operational, tactical and strategic levels, Steven has held key positions along the way, including Divisional Commander, Brigade Training Officer and Assistant Chief Fire Officer. Additionally, Steven has also held positions at Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) as a lead for civil disasters, terrorism and emergency planning.
Over the years, Steven has accumulated a wide range of experience in operational emergencies, fire safety, risk management, health and safety, emergency planning, human resource planning and management, training and development and procedures and strategies.
He has managed in a range of business environments with a range of pressures, influences and continuous change all whilst ensuring quality standards are being set, recorded, monitored and communicated.
Stephen Hayward
Role: Technical Director
Key Skills: Leadership, Administration, Technical Report Writing, Investigation and evidence gathering, Team Management and Supervision, Teaching and Mentoring, Communication.
Stephen has over 30+ years of experience in the Fire Service, working in two fire and rescue services within operational, training and fire safety departments whilst holding key roles such as Station Commander, Training Instructor and Fire Safety and Leading Fire Fighter during that period. Stephen has also spent a period of time in the Merchant Navy.
Stephen has a vast knowledge and experience with risk assessments, general principles of fire safety, inspection procedures, emergency lighting, fire alarms, and fire-fighting equipment. He has also completed many courses and qualifications over the years such as the Watch Command Course where he learnt key skills such as leadership and management, fire safety legislation, electrical hazards, fire certificates, fire drills and arson preventions. Stephen has also completed courses such as the BRE Fire Door Inspectors, Fire Safety Solutions in Higher Life Risk Buildings and HNC Fire Command and Management.
